Trustees Give the Greenlight to Incentive for Mazda Dealership

The Village and the owner of a Mazda dealership reached an agreement to split the portion of revenue generated by the Village's home-rule sales tax.

Orland Park trustees Monday signed off on a tax incentive package to bring a Mazda dealership to vacant space on 159th Street.

As part of the deal with Wilson Automotive Group, the Village will go 50-50 in revenue from the village’s 1 percent home-rule sales tax.

It's possible the dealership, to be located at  8910 W. 159th St., could see $10 million in sales for the remainder of this year, with next year's total rising to $25 million. If the numbers hold up, the Village and Wilson Automotive could divvy $100,000 this year, and $250,000 in 2015, Sun-Times Media reports.

Wilson will take the franchise off the hands of Community Mazda in Tinley Park and plant it in neighboring Orland Park, according to the report.

The store is expected to open by the end of May.
