Water Service Negotiations Update and More (Live Blog)

Orland Park and four neighboring towns are getting closer to a finalizing a new water service contract with Oak Lawn.

New parts of the contract include a need for Oak Lawn to get consent from Orland Park, Tinley Park, Mokena, Oak Forest and New Lenox before taking on certain expenses, and for the municipalities to review operations, according to a village memo. The negotiations have been ongoing since 2009, and the hope is to complete the contract by this year's end, according to the memo.

The update will happen during the public works committee meeting, where trustees will vote on sending an extension for consulting services in the negotiations to the full village board for a final vote.

The village's public safety and development services committees also will meet Monday night before the full board.

Download the committee meetings and full board meeting media packets from the village's website.

The live blog through Cover It Live will provide minute-by-minute updates from the meeting on this page starting at 6 p.m. Look in the Cover It Live window, and you’ll see an area where you can join in and offer your comments. The same rules apply as on the site.

Leading up to the meeting, let me know if there's anything you particularly want to know about in the comments.
