Bruce's Dash: Celebrating Scheidegger's Enthusiasm and Compassion (Video)

Hundreds gathered at Carl Sandburg High School Sunday to honor Bruce Scheidegger, the much-loved athletic director who died last week.

People from several different points in Bruce Scheidegger's life shared memories of him Sunday at Carl Sandburg High School. 

Yet they all told similar stories of his kindness, endless energy, dedication to all sports on his watch and him as a model family man. Students, school administrators, coaches who worked for him and coaches he worked with shared similar thoughts on Scheidegger, and the lasting impact he left on their lives, in front of hundreds gathered in the Eagle Gym.

Scheidegger died between Feb. 9 and 10 in a car accident in Carroll County. He was 54 years old, and affected countless people throughout his life.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6850 W. 159th Street in Tinley Park. Visitation will be held on Monday at Trinity from 9 a.m.-11 a.m.
