Gimme 5: Sandburg Duo 'Pays It Forward' at Orland Junior High Softball Camp

Allie Pardo and Brooke Heimerl have been participating in since they were in sixth grade. Now, the two Sandburg High School student-athletes, grateful for the coaching they got as junior high students, are "paying it forward."

Lori Haskett, the head softball coach at Orland Junior High, appreciates having the help of Heimerl and Pardo, each of whom is starting her sophomore year at Sandburg.

"It helps teach these girls leadership skills. I've known (Pardo and Heimerl) since sixth grade. They've opened up a lot more, and now they are able to communicate and help teach," Haskett said.
