Jeff Stawick Chosen as New District 146 Super

Current Steger District Superintendent has a contract agreement that is expected to be approved at District 146's Dec. 13 meeting.

The search for a new superintendent of Community Consolidated School District 146 appears to be over.

Jeff Stawick, who now serves as the Steger School District 194 superintendent, has a "tentative contract agreement" with District 146, according to a release. District 146's board of trustees are expected to approve Stawick's contract at the Dec. 13 meeting.

Stawick, who was chosen out of 68 candidates, said he "fell in love" with District 146 while working as an assistant principal at Central Middle School during the 2003-2004 school year. He will succeed Dr. Marion Hoyda who is retiring in June after the 2011 spring semester ends.

"Dr. Hoyda is leaving the district in good shape," Stawick said Monday. "She's already reached out to me today to help in the transition. In the meantime, I have seven months of important work to do at Steger. Dr. Hoyda also has big things she wants to accomplish in that time."

Stawick has worked within the Steger district as superintendent for the last three-and-a-half years. Prior to that, he was a principal within Homewood School District 153 from 2004 to 2007, and also worked as an assistant principal at Central.

He is a graduate from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign where he earned a bachelor's degree in music education, and holds a master's in educational administration from Governors State University.

"Jeff Stawick will be a tremendous addition to the already great team of educators here at District 146," Dean Casper, District 146 Board President, said in the release.
