On His Game: Sandburg's Ted Vergados

Eagles' football placekicker hopes it all comes down on his shoulders, or rather his right foot, when the game is on the line.

Kickers often have the hardest job of anyone on the football team, mentally speaking. They go out, kick, sit on the bench for an undetermined amount of time and wait until they are summoned again.

Sandburg's Ted Vergados, a senior, is in his second year kicking for the Eagles football team. He hit a 35-yard field goal to get the scoring started in . He had five total points on the day, including the point-after attempts.

One day, he could be teaching another young man how to kick. He has aspirations to teach history and coach high school football. In the immediate future, however, he just wants a chance to put in the state playoffs in his senior season.
