Football: Sandburg Shuts Down Stagg

The Carl Sandburg High School Eagles varsity football team kept the Amos Alonzo Stagg Chargers off of the scoreboard Friday night, and pulled a few interceptions.

Two District 230 schools’ varsity football teams entered Seliga Field Friday night with the same regular season record.

But by the end, the Sandburg Eagles had two touchdowns and the Stagg Chargers scored no points.

Sandburg running back Brian Langowski scored both touchdowns, one in the first quarter to close a drive started by a Graham Hevel interception. The second touchdown was off a 40-yard run in the fourth quarter on a quick drive started by an Adam Nash interception. LaVelle Johnson also snagged an interception shortly after the fourth quarter started.
