Sports Video Highlight Reel: Sandburg Soccer Shutout is D-licious
With solid defense and well-executed set plays, the Eagles rolled to a 3-0 victory over Bolingbrook.
Sandburg's girls soccer team didn't give Bolingbrook much breathing room as the Eagles rolled to a 3-0 victory in a Southwest Suburban Blue match earlier this week.
Sophomore forward Paige Bendell scored first for the Eagles in the 12th minute. She punched in a corner kick put into play by Carly Katalinic. Senior Ciara O'Shea also netted another Katalinic corner kick in the 28th minute to bring the score to 2-0.
In the second half, both sides played pretty evenly, but the Eagles were able to put a third goal into the net past Raider goalkeeper Karissa Jones in the 57th minute. Ashley Youngwirth finished on a header pass from Emily Osoba.
