Centennial School Students “Snuggle Up with a Good Book”

Centennial School recently hosted a family reading night themed, "Snuggle Up with a Good Book" on October 25th.

Centennial School recently hosted a family reading night themed, “Snuggle Up with a Good Book” on October 25th,  where students and their families were invited to don their pajamas to hear stories read aloud by their teachers.  Students enjoyed visiting among the twelve story rooms with their families and fellow classmates to hear stories such as “Pout Pout Fish” and “Piggie Pie” .

Centennial‘s ongoing reading initiatives include events throughout the year to promote student reading in the classroom and at home. The program includes  a week-long book fair held for students and parents to purchase their favorite books.  Additionally, Centennial Principal Keri DeYoung’s “Principals” program which encourages students to read to her and in return, they can choose a new book to take home and read with their family. All 447 Centennial students participate in this program throughout the school year.  Mrs. DeYoung enjoys spending time with each student as part of the “Princi-pal” program, and is proud to see each student’s growth.
