Village Theatre Troupe To Hold Auditions for "Broadway in Orland"

The Village of Orland Park Theatre Troupe is holding auditions for its summer dinner theater show, "Broadway In Orland" May 13 and 14.

Just weeks since its four sold out performances of “Annie,” the Orland Park Theatre Troupe is preparing for its next production, “Broadway in Orland.”

“We’re continuing our Broadway theme into the summer,” said Orland Park Recreation Program Supervisor Stephanie Simpson, executive producer of the village’s shows. “Audiences absolutely loved ‘Annie’, and gave the great cast standing ovations every night. We’re now looking for people who enjoy performing songs from other Broadway hits,” she explained.

Actors age 15 and older are invited to audition for the Orland Park Theatre Troupe’s musical dinner theater presentation, “Broadway in Orland.” Those auditioning must be able to sing and dance. Auditions require singing at least 16 measures, learning and performing a dance. Once cast, participants  must pay a $35 registration fee.

“This is always a great show,” said Orland Park Theatre Troupe Producer/Director Frann Carnivele-Sidlow. “We create a dinner theater setting --- similar to what people remember from the Candlelight Dinner Playhouse --- and it’s a great time as we perform songs from some wonderful Broadway plays and our guests enjoy a four course meal at the Orland Chateau,” she said.

Auditions will be held Monday and Tuesday, May 13 and 14, at 7 p.m. at Orland Park’s Old Village Hall, 14413 South Beacon Avenue.  Rehearsals will be held Sunday afternoons and Monday and Thursday evenings, May 16 through July 18 with rehearsals being specific to performance numbers. Performances are Sunday, July 21 and 28.
