Orland Park Village Board Confirms Calandriello Appointment

Lifelong Resident Named to Vacant Trustee Position

ORLAND PARK, IL (Sept 16, 2013) – An Orland Park native has been named to fill the vacant trustee position on the Village of Orland Park Board of Trustees. Dan Calandriello, 28, was recommended by Mayor Dan McLaughlin with the appointment being confirmed by the Board of Trustees at its September 16 meeting.

“I’ve known Dan Calandriello for a long time and I’m confident that he will be a great addition to the Village Board,” McLaughlin said. “We had more than 20 very well qualified people that were considered for the position and I kept coming back to Dan because of his credentials, his enthusiasm for wanting to serve the community and because of the younger perspective he will bring to the board,” the mayor said.

Calandriello holds a law degree from John Marshall Law School and received his undergraduate degree from Marquette University, where he served as student government president. The Marist High School alum served as a staff assistant for the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, DC after graduating college. He currently serves as an assistant state’s attorney with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.

“I’ve lived in the village my entire life and I’m looking forward to serving the community,” Calandriello said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve as a village trustee, being able to give back to the town where I was raised,” he added.

“Orland Park is a great community --- named one of the best in the country --- with its parks, village services, facilities, and schools,” Calandriello said. “I’m honored to join the team to help continue these great traditions,” he said, adding “I’m looking forward to helping to keep and bring young adults and their families to Orland Park. This is one of the best places to live and raise a family and I want to help keep it that way.”

Calandriello will be 28 years old when he takes the oath of office. However, he will not hold the record as the youngest village official. Current Village Trustee Jim Dodge was 26 when he was elected village clerk in 1989 and McLaughlin was 29 years old when he was first elected village trustee in 1983.

“We’re looking forward to having Dan come on board,” McLaughlin said, adding, “He offers a new perspective, represents a new generation on the board and has a great love for Orland Park.”
