Village of Orland Park Fall Recreation Guide to Arrive August 8th

The Village of Orland Park Recreation Department’s Fall Program Guide will arrive in the August 8 edition of the “Orland Park Prairie Newspaper,” being delivered a week later than expected.

“We apologize for the delay and are moving the resident registration date to August 14 to allow for the later arrival,” said Director of Recreation Nancy Flores.

The guide includes upcoming events and programs for adults and seniors, athletics, cultural arts, dance, early childhood and the great outdoors. It also includes gymnastics, health and fitness, parties, Smart Living, special events, Special Recreation, programs at the village’s Sportsplex , theater and youth and teens.

“With many new program offerings and all the information on the upcoming season’s events, we know people will be looking forward to the arrival of the fall guide on August 8,” Flores said.

Among the village’s special events are Maggie Speaks performing at Centennial Park West on September 1; the Open Lands Golf Outing on September 17; the Great Pumpkin Party on October 5; the 35th annual Orland Open Spelling Bee on October 20 and Orland Park’s annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day, November 28. The annual holiday festival with Mayor McLaughlin’s tree lighting will be held December 1.

New this year is the Polar Express, held on December 7. Registered participants are invited to a holiday themed train ride departing from the 143rd Street train station.

“We have some very exciting special events planned and there’s still time to register for the village’s preschool or After School Pals Programs,” Flores said.

Village resident registration begins August 14 with non-residents being able to register beginning August 21. Registration will be available on the village’s website, at Recreation Administration, 14600 South Ravinia Avenue and at the village’s Sportsplex, 11351 West 159th Street.
