Partyin' at Pet Palooza

Orland Township's first ever Pet Palooza brought many animals and fans of animals out to raise money for the township's pet pantry.

The first ever Pet-Palooza had some interesting sights.

The event was held Saturday afternoon on the Orland Township grounds near the Village Hall. It was attended by wildly entertaining pets (and often their owners) dressed in creative costumes with hopes of winning a prize and a ribbon.

There was something for everyone. Bounce houses, live music, games. Also, water-gun games kept the kids cool, and small pools were there to cool off the pups on the very warm Saturday afternoon. The grills were fired up, providing human treats and pet store vendors were on hand with dog (and kitty) treats. While admission was free, all donations from the event benefitted the .

For people interested in learning more about caring for their animals, volunteers educated on nutrition, playing, spaying, neutering and even on how to dress up their pets or dye their fur. Many dogs and cats were there with rescue groups, hoping to be adopted by animal lovers in attendance. Look for pictures of the animals available for adoption in our gallery.
