Spc. Tim Wilkas Gets a Hero's Welcome Back to Orland Park

The U.S. Army specialist said he missed his friends and family the most while serving in Afghanistan.

Most people never look back on high school once they graduate. Not so for U.S. Army Spc. Tim Wilkas.

The 2006 Carl Sandburg High School graduate, who played all four years on the baseball team, was more than happy to see his former stomping grounds. The school was the staging ground for his escort home.

When asked what he missed the most, he said "friends and family, without a doubt."

Wilkas served in the same province of Afghanistan as did the soldiers and Navy SEALS team that were recently killed in a helicopter attack. Wilkas will be home for a month before heading to Fort Bragg, N.C. During that time he plans on relaxing and when not driving his new Camaro.
