The Orland Park Public Library is exploring various facets of Islamic culture, history and heritage through a grant-funded effort called the Bridging Cultures Bookshelf.
The next program held 7 p.m. Monday will focus on the book “Minaret” by Leila Aboulela.
The story centers around a young Muslim woman who grows up secular, only to embrace a more orthodox belief in the religion, as she goes from a university educated life to working as a maid.
