Two Charity Races with Important Causes in Orland Park

Sandburg takes on Lockport, Stagg goes against L-Way East and other things to do this weekend.

Orland Park is taking on two serious topics this weekend through charity walk/runs.

Orland Township’s Illumin8K is an eight-kilometer walk/run to raise awareness about suicide prevention. The event begins 7 p.m. Saturday at the Orland Township Administrative Offices, 14807 S. Ravinia Ave.

On Sunday, the Erin’s AAIM for Change 5K Walk/Run will go on starting 8:30 a.m. The event is to raise awareness about the dangers of drunk driving, and it also raises money for both deterrent efforts and scholarships for college from the Erin Olmstead Foundation.

Football games: The Sandburg Eagles take on the Lockport Porters at the Lockport Field Friday night at 7 p.m. The Stagg Chargers face the L-Way East Griffins in Frankfort 7:30 p.m. Friday.
