The Southwest Suburban Federation of Teachers, AFT Local 943, represents and advises an array of school professionals in employment issues, such as contract negotiations and grievances. Chartered in 1946, the organization assists teachers, paraprofessionals, clerks, cooks, maintenance workers, janitors, secretaries, aids, media assistants and other school staff.

Kathryn Setlak is the president of Local 943. The building also houses an office of the Illinois Federation of Teachers. Members meet at the Orland Park location six times a year on the second Tuesday of the month at 4:30p.m.
