Jonathan Sarolas is facing a felony charge less than two weeks after he was released from prison.
Eleven days after Jonathan Sarolas, 23, of Homer Glen was released from state prison, following serving a sentence for burglary convictions, he attempted to steal a woman’s car in Orland Park using a BB gun and fled from police through a wooded area. Sarolas was caught less than a week later at the Midlothian Metra stop, and now he’s back in custody. On Tuesday, Sarolas stood before Judge Peter Felice with a new felony charge to face, aggravated vehicular hijacking. Felice was about to grant a $500,000 bail, but upped it to $700,000 when he learned about Sarolas’ recent prison sentence. The Homer Glen man identified as responsible for an armed robbery in Orland Park Monday night was spotted at a train stop in Midlothian on Friday.
A man accused of robbing an employee at an Orland Park restaurant using a BB pistol, before driving away in the employee’s car and escaping the area after a chase, has been caught, according to authorities. Jonathan E. Sarolas, 23, of the 13500 block of Erin Drive in Homer Glen, was charged Friday with aggravated vehicular hijacking, a Class X felony. On Friday, a Midlothian police officer saw people described as suspicious around the Midlothian Metra stop at 3750 W. 147th St. around 3:30 p.m. The officer recognized most of the people from past contacts, but didn’t recognize Sarolas, Orland Park Police Commander John Keating said Sunday.
