Business Comings & Goings: Buona Beef Opens in Orland Park

Parmesans expected to be new food vendor at 80th Avenue Metra station. • New men's haircut salon opens in Orland Park. • Thai restaurant to take over former Casto's space.

It took a little longer than expected, but Buona Restaurants and Catering opened Wednesday in Orland Park. The restaurant at 9525 W. 131st St. opened Wednesday. It is the 15th location for the family-owned Berwyn-based chain that got its start in 1981. The restaurant is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and offers dine-in, carry-out and catering. The Orland location includes a drive-through lane, and sells beer and wine for people dining in. The menu includes beef and roasted chicken sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, pizza, salads, soups and milkshakes. There also is a kids menu. Buona Beef Passes Board Scrutiny, Now Headed for Orland Park

After a few disagreements with a board member, as well as property owners and tenants in Southmoor Commons, the Italian beef restaurant could be open by year’s end.

A Buona Beef franchise will be opening up in Orland Park after a long process to board approval. As the Orland Park Village Board gave the Chicago suburbs restaurant franchise a go-ahead with a 5-1 vote at Monday night’s meeting, board member Kathy Fenton voted no out of her displeasure with the entire Southmoor Commons development at 131st Street and LaGrange Road. “This has nothing to do with the business at all,” Fenton said about her vote during the meeting. “I’ve been against this entire center since it was resold.” Mayor Dan McLaughlin did not attend the meeting, with trustee James Dodge presiding in his place. This is true, Ben. There are white "gangbangers" out there too. I suppose I was reacting to a bunch of other posts from the past in which Hispanics and African Americans were singled out... I was letting frustration out because with comments like this, you almost know for sure that they are targeting non-white people.   more ›
