Sportsplex Gym to Close One Month for Repairs
The new Dave and Busters site plan gets a slight makeover, and Main Street Triangle engineering work pushes ahead during Monday night's village board meeting.
The Orland Park Sportsplex gymnasium will be closed from Aug. 20 to Sept. 24 to replace the prematurely warping floor, while the rest of the facility will remain open. On Monday, Parks Supervisor Frank Stec told village trustees that the floor needed to be replaced and the company who installed the floor has since gone out of business, leaving the village no chance for reimbursement. For $245,890, Floors Inc. of Woodstock was hired to replace the floor that was only installed 11 years ago. Stec said wooden gym floors should last 50 years or more. Engineers from Christopher Burke have conducted tests in the gym and determined that there was nothing wrong with the concrete or moisture levels, but that the floor boards had not been nailed …
