Prosecutors told a Cook County judge during a hearing Wednesday that a copy of outstanding material from a computer needs to be handed to the defense before the discovery phase of Dean Milenkovic's possession of child porn case is complete.
Prosecutors have received more evidence from a computer in the felony possession of child pornography case against former Orland firefighter Dean Milenkovic, officials said Wednesday. An assistant state's attorney from the sex crimes unit said during a status hearing Wednesday in Judge Colleen Ann Hyland's Bridgeview courtroom that the state has received the material and plans to give copies to Michael D. Krejci, Milenkovic's defense attorney. Milenkovic, 46, has two pending cases against him and is out on bond for both; it is unclear if and how the cases are related, but they are being prosecuted together. A former Orland Fire Protection District firefighter pleaded not guilty to child pornography charges, the second case against him regarding an incident with a minor. Dressed casually in a white and green jacket, dark striped shirt and jeans, Dean Milenkovic, 46, didn't speak during a brief hearing Tuesday, Nov. 27 except to say "Yes, your honor" when Judge Colleen Ann Hyland asked if he understood the terms of his not-guilty plea and bond conditions. In the most recent case, Milenkovic has been charged with two counts of aggravated possession of child pornography. A former Orland Fire Protection District firefighter is now facing two pending cases, after felony charges related to possession of child pornography were made against him. It was not immediately clear whether the cases against Dean Milenkovic, 46, are related. Calls to Michael D. Krejci, the attorney listed in court records for Milenkovic's first case, were not immediately returned Friday. In the most recent case, Milenkovic has been charged with two counts of aggravated possession of child pornography. An Orland Fire Protection District firefighter faces two felony charges, police said, after he said he struck up online sex chats with a person he believed was a 13-year-old Iowa girl. About three months ago, the man entered a Yahoo online chat room and sent the messages, but he was actually chatting with an undercover officer in Iowa posing as the minor, according to police. On Wednesday morning, police took a search warrant to the man’s Orland Park residence, and arrested him, concluding a three-month investigation by the Orland Park Internet Crimes Investigations Unit, according to a release from the Orland Park Police Department.
