Orland Park police reports, Feb. 28 to March 9.
SATURDAY, MARCH 9 Kimberlyn Sawyer, 44, of the 9200 block of Hartwood Court in Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and battery, according to a police report. Police were called at about 9:36 p.m. to the parking lot at Walgreens, 14680 LaGrange Rd. on a report of a man and woman arguing inside a Ford Explorer. An officer reported smelling a strong odor of alcohol on the breath of Sawyer, who was in the driver's seat of the running SUV. While talking to police from inside the SUV, Sawyer reportedly swatted at and hit an officer’s hand. She was arrested and taken to the Orland Park Police Department, where she took field sobriety tests. Sawyer is due in a downtown Chicago courtroom on April 22. Cornelius E. …

Shane Okon, 24, is accused of being under the influence on Sunday when he drove into the basement of a home in the 8600 block of Grace Road in Orland Park.
Police say a 24-year-old man and former Orland Park community service officer was drunk when he drove into a house on Easter morning. Shane Okon of the 15200 block of Coventry Court in Orland Park is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving too fast for conditions, failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash, driving without a license and driving without insurance, police said. Okon resigned from his position as a community service officer with the Orland Park Police Department in November 2012, said Orland Park Police Sgt. Scott Malmborg. Poplawsky, 31, of the 8500 block of 102nd Terrace in Palos Hills, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, improper lane use, driving without insurance and driving without a license on his person, according to a report. He was stopped by police at about 1:59 a.m. near 14100 LaGrange Rd. for speeding and crossing the road lines. Police could smell an odor of alcohol coming from the car. WEDNESDAY, MARCH 6 Lauren Zaragoza, 23, of the 10600 block of Avon Court in Palos Hills, was charged with retail theft, according to a report. She is accused of taking two dresses from Sears, 2 Orland Square Dr. Police were called at about 5:17 p.m. after store employees had stopped a woman who was with Zaragoza in the store before she left. Zaragoza was called by the woman and told to return to the store with the dresses. She is due in Bridgeview court on April 12. The other woman received local ordinance violations for retail theft.
