Court Supervision: 11 Days in Jail For Sex With 16-Year-Old Boy

A former Plainfield North gym teacher pleaded guilty to meeting a teen for sex. And that was just one of the things going on in court this week.

More than two years after the police caught her in a car with a half-dressed student from the high school where she was a teacher, Ashley Blumenshine copped a plea. Blumenshine, a 30-year-old former Plainfield North gym teacher, will have to do 11 days in jail. She will also spend two years on sex offender probation and 10 yeas on the Illinois sex offender registry. She tearfully apologized before she was taken into custody to start doing her time. Let's look at what else was going on in the area's courthouses this past week: Check out all these stories and more on our Facebook page.

I'm am quite sure the 16 year old wasn't raped and consented. The old lady was being nice and got raped for it. To compare the two is idiotic. Expect nothing less from crook county residents.   more ›

New Lawyer Takes Wheel in Orland Park 'Ghost Rider' Case

The Orland Park man jailed nearly five months for allegedly fleeing the police has a new attorney.

A young man from Orland Park who allegedly starred in a series of Youtube videos that show him taunting the police as he races around town on his dirt bike has a new lawyer. The attorney who had been representing 22-year-old Justin Jachimiec was dismissed from the case last month when—at the start of jury selection—he discovered he was a representing a key state witness in an unrelated, pending matter. A public defender was assigned the case while Jachimiec looked for a new lawyer. And on Thursday he got one when Glen Ellyn attorney Brad Telander entered his appearance at the Bridgeview Courthouse. Telander asked for discovery evidence to be turned over to him and for Cook County Judge Colleen Hyland to schedule an April 16 status hearing…

Accused ‘Ghost Rider’ Looking for New Lawyer

The Orland Park man accused of videoing himself as he eluded and mocked police on a motorcycle will be hiring a new attorney, after his previous one was disqualified because of a conflict with a key witness.

A 22-year-old Orland Park man facing felony charges related to videos made of popping wheelies on a motorcycle, while riding close to other vehicles on the road and taunting police that ended up on YouTube, is seeking new representation. The trial for Justin Jachimiec was set to begin on Feb. 6, but during jury selection, his attorney Patrick Doherty found he was also representing one of the state’s key witnesses in a different case still in court, and was disqualified. A public defender was appointed immediately, while Jachimiec and his family decided whether they would stick with the appointed lawyer, or hire another. Jachimiec was back in the Bridgeview Courthouse Wednesday, where public defender David Colaric told Judge Carmen …

Dumb, Dumber and Dumberer: Weird Crime 2012

Can you see me now? • If you're going to commit a crime, give the cops a hand by posting your crimes on YouTube • Wet-laundry smackdown ... Weird Crime of the Southland 2012.

People do stupid things. And sometimes those stupid things lead to felony charges, as was the case with these incidents from the Patch files. Ferris Bueller's Evil Twin? A 20-year-old man arrested in the New Lenox Village Commons in August and cited for underage drinking was stopped again later in the evening after an officer spotted him walking in the middle of the street. The cop rolled down his window and told Jerome Dudko to get on the sidewalk, but Dudko decided to grab the officer's eyeglasses, scream profanities and run away. Police said Dudko scratched the officer's eyes, which required treatment at the hospital. Other officers arrived at Dudko's house and took the young man, kicking and screaming, into custody. The officer's …
