Orland Park Man Jailed on 2 Sex Cases Possibly Facing New Charges

The lawyer for Kevin Skaritka said Tuesday in court that his client may be seeing even more charges, while still facing two unrelated sex crime cases.

An Orland Park man facing a pair of unrelated sex crime cases may have even more charges coming down the pike, his lawyer said. "I believe that the state is still looking into the possibility of new charges," Robert Callahan, the attorney for Kevin Skaritka, told Cook County Judge John Joseph Hynes during a Tuesday morning hearing at the Bridgeview courthouse. Investigators are also still probing Skaritka's computer. Hynes set a June 3 date for Skaritka's next appearance. Skaritka, 37, was supposed to go on trial in September for allegedly molesting—and exposing himself to—his girlfriend's teenage daughter. But that case was pushed back when he caught new charges for allegedly attempting to exchange naked pictures with a 14-year-old girl …

Defense Wants to Set Trial in Child Sex Assault, Sex Chatting Cases

A defense attorney for a 36-year-old Orland Park man accused of molesting his girlfriend's teen daughter, and sex chatting with a fictitious 14-year-old girl in an unrelated matter, told a Cook County judge that he wants to move the cases forward.

An attorney for an Orland Park man charged with felony sex crimes involving underaged girls wants to move toward a trial date for his client. However, more evidence in 36-year-old Kevin Skaritka's most recent case, where he was accused of attempting to exchange nude photos online with a 14-year-old girl who was actually an undercover cop last September, is outstanding, prosecutors said during a hearing Thursday. Skaritka was already facing unrelated sex assault charges and was set to begin a trial in September, but it has been postponed since the new charges were filed. In the original case, authorities say he molested his girlfriend’s teenage daughter and exposed himself to her between 2009 and May 2011.  Skaritka has been in custody …

Authorities Investigating Online Chat Room in Sex Images Case

Kevin Skaritka is accused of sending sexual images sent over the Internet, and he is still facing sexual assault charges from an unrelated case.

Prosecutors are getting information about a "nudist chat room" involved in the case against Kevin Skaritka, an Orland Park man charged with felony manufacturing harmful materials, officials said during a court hearing Wednesday. Police said Skaritka, 36, was talking online to someone he thought a 14-year–old girl, but was actually an undercover officer. The conversations took place between Nov. 2011 and June 2012. Prosecutors said at a past hearing that Skaritka sent a naked photo of himself, took part in a video chat while nude and requested a nude photo in return. Skaritka was already facing unrelated sex assault charges before the most recent case, where authorities say he molested his girlfriend’s teenage daughter and exposed himself…

Kevin Skaritka, 35, was charged in September with two counts of felony manufacturing harmful materials. Police said Skaritka was talking online to who he thought was a 14-year–old girl, but was actually an undercover officer. The conversations took place between Nov. 2011 and June 2012. Man Accused in Sex Assault of Teen to be Arraigned on New Charges

Kevin Skaritka, 35, will be arraigned on two felony counts of manufacturing harmful materials in connection with case unrelated to the sexual assault charges.

An Orland Park man accused of sexually assaulting a teen remained in custody Tuesday on new charges unrelated to the molestation case. Kevin Skaritka, 35, is set to be arraigned Sept. 20 on two new felony counts of manufacturing harmful materials. He allegedly sent sexually explicit images to someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl in St. Louis, Mo. Police say Skaritka was communicating online with someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl, but he was actually talking to an undercover St. Louis police sergeant. According to prosecutors, Skaritka chatted with the sergeant between November 2011 and June of this year using Yahoo Instant Messenger. Skaritka sent a photo of himself and requested "nudie" pics of the fictitious 14-year-old, …

Sexual Exploitation Trial Put on Hold for More Evidence

The state's pretrial investigation continues against a man charged with 14 counts related to sexual abuse following a joint effort last year by Orland Park and Palos Hills police.

A jury trial set Monday for a man accused of sexually exploiting a teenage girl in both Orland Park and Palos Hills was postponed. Kevin Skaritka, 35, has pleaded not guilty to a 14-count indictment alleging he sexually exploited his girlfriend’s teenage daughter by assaulting her, exposing himself and showing her pornography inside their home. He and his attorney, Robert Callahan, are intending at trial to call witnesses who can provide an alibi for the dates and times between 2009 and 2011 that he is accused of molesting the girl. The state, however, has not finished its investigation, telling Judge John Hynes on the morning a jury was to be selected that cell phone records pertaining to the case remain outstanding. Evidence Still Being Gathered in Case of Man Accused of Sexually Assaulting a Teen

Attorneys for both sides are scheduled back in court in October.

The next hearing for a man accused of sexual exploitation of a teenage girl in Palos Hills and Orland Park is scheduled for October while attorneys continue to collect evidence for trial. Kevin Skaritka, of Orland Park, is charged with multiple counts of criminal sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual abuse and criminal sexual abuse. He's accused of molesting a teenage girl between 2009 and May 2011, according to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. In August, Cook County Judge John J. Hynes allowed Skaritka to post bond with an electronic monitor, even though two of his guns—a shotgun and AR-15 rifle—were missing from his home. On Monday, the state's attorney's office told the judge the state needs more time to gather evidence. …
