Update: 10:15 p.m., Monday, Aug. 6, 2012 Orland Park home and property owners will be getting a property tax rebate from the village in 2013. Orland Park’s Village Board all voted in favor of the rebate. Trustee James Dodge did not attend the meeting. Each person who qualifies will be getting the same amount of money out of a total of $2.5 million that will be rebated from village funds. Exactly how much money that will be depends on the number of qualifying applicants, though the villages has estimated that if about 19,000 property owners qualify they will receive about $131 each. Orland Park staff will be working on ways to make portions of the application process electronic, though previous application methods will still likely be used…

Orland Park’s finance, development services and public safety committees met Monday night along with the full board. Take a look back at our live blog transcript for more details.
Update: 1:25 a.m., Tuesday, July 17 Parkview Christian Church's expanison plans got through the development services committee Monday night, but must get a majority vote from the full village board to move forward. During the public safety committee meeting, Orland Park Police Chief Tim McCarthy proposed adding an ordinance that specifically prohibits dumping in dumpsters not assigned to people's residences. Currently people are charged with trespassing, and can be fined as little as $25 all the way up to $750, McCarthy said. The new ordinance, should it pass the full board's vote, would not change the fines, McCarthy said. Original Post: 5:55 a.m., Monday, July 16 Orland Park and Parkview Christian Church have been talking for over a …

Update: 11:45 p.m., Monday, June 18, 2012 People with three traffic tickets from Orland Park police might be facing a big inconvenience soon, if those tickets remain unpaid. In 2011, the Orland Park Village Board gave the go-ahead for police to tow or boot a vehicle with three unpaid tickets, down two tickets from the previous policy of five tickets. During Monday night's Public Safety Committee meeting, Chief Tim McCarthy told the trustees that the three-ticket rule will now be going into effect. By the end of the month, all Orland Park residents with three outstanding tickets will receive a letter from the MCA collection agency, letting the registered owner know that their vehicle will soon be towed or booted. Residents living outside of…

Update: 10:15 p.m. Monday, May 21 Orland Park staff and members of the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning will continue to work on new water regulations, probably through the summer. Water rates and usage rules, including summer watering restrictions, are expected to stay as they are until new water conservation code suggestions are back in front of village trustees for a read in July. Among what will likely be recommended are more water-efficient requirements for new buildings, including Low-flow toliets. Another suggestion is to cut down watering days over summer to two days, instead of every other day, but to extend the time allowed for watering during those days. Also during Monday night's meeting, the Orland Park Police …
