Orland Park joined people nationwide for the National Night Out Against Crime, where neighborhoods celebrated and learned about different safety methods, from paper shredding to avoiding drunk driving and more.

Orland Park residents turned out in force for the annual National Night Out Against Crime at the Orland Park Civic Center on Aug. 7. “Orland Park’s National Night Out festivities heighten the awareness of our residents and businesses, helping them learn what they can do to help prevent crime,” said Orland Park Police Chief Timothy McCarthy, in a release from the village. “The night’s activities are directed, to a large extent, to the children in our community to encourage them to be alert for criminal activity and to make them more comfortable with the police in an informal, fun environment.” The event featured representatives from the Orland Fire Protection District, a disc jockey from Electric Blue Entertainment, Mr. D’s Magic Show and …

Orland Park Police Hosting National Night Out Against Crime Tonight

Residents across the country are encouraged to turn on their porch lights as a statement against crime before joining the festivities held in their towns. The event will be held 5 p.m.-9p.m. at the Orland Park Civic Center.
