Mackey’s Pub will hold its grand opening in Orland Park all day Saturday with food and drink specials, and a live performance from Stellar Road.
The Mackeys were already busy when they decided to open their new bar and restaurant, Mackey’s Pub at 9400 W. 143rd St. “There’s me, my wife Maureen, my daughter Eileen and my other daughter Meghan,” said John Mackey. “Everyone was working full time jobs, so I decided between four part timers we can have one full time employee.” But when the chance came about for the Mackeys to open a new pub near where they live in Orland Park, they went for it. “It was spur of the moment,” said Eileen Mackey about deciding to open the establishment. Mackey’s Pub first opened on May 11, with a full bar, specialty martinis and menu including their famous fried chicken, pizza, sandwiches, soups, salads and fish. The pub carries drink specials every day. …

The restaurant officially opened on Monday to the general public. Patch was able to get a sneak peak of what Pompei will have to offer for its anticipated opening. The extensive menu includes handmade pasta favorites like spaghetti, mostaccioli and lasagna, as well as updated dishes like herb chicken ravioli and spicy rigatoni arrabiata. Hand-rolled pizza strudels were all the rage with varieties like barbeque chicken, Pompei Italiano, steak fajita, chicken parmigiana and many more. Round The Clock Restaurant provides guests with food 24 hours a day, which is more clear now with its current name.
When Minas Litos extended his family restaurant chain to Orland Park his goal was to compete in an area already inundated with food options.
