Man Caught Trying to Open Car Roof with Knife

An Orland Park man is also accused of stealing from several cars in the village and in nearby unincorporated Cook County Wednesday morning.

A 21-year-old Orland Park man is facing felony charges after he was seen cutting open a Jeep’s roof, and was later caught with stolen items from other car burglaries, according to police. The Orland Park Police Department was called about a man seen in the 14000 block of Timothy Drive using a knife to cut open the roof of a Jeep Wrangler around 6:07 a.m., according to a release. The man ran from the area when the caller approached him, and responding officers chased him on foot, police said. Officers caught him at the Michael Drive and Sheri Lane intersection. Police found items on him stolen from at least six other vehicles in Orland Park, and others in unincorporated Cook County, according to the release. The other burglaries also …

DUI Traffic Stop on Way Home from House of Blues: Blotter

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 24 Brian J. Windt, 38, of the 15600 block of Larkspun Lane, Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08 and speeding, according to a report. Windt was on his way home at about 1:20 a.m. from drinking at the House of Blues when he was spotted by police traveling 57mph in a 40mph zone in the 8400 block of 151st Street. During a traffic stop, police reported smelling an odor of alcohol coming from the driver’s breath. He was asked to perform field sobriety tests, which he allegedly failed. Known Ecstasy, Pot Dealer Charged in Drug Bust: Police

A 20-year-old Orland Park man faces drug charges after a drug bust in Tinley Park. Phillip M. Forrest, of the 7800 block of Forestview Drive, is charged with delivery of marijuana and delivery of a controlled substance, according to a report. A confidential source told police about a known drug dealer who sells marijuana and ecstasy in the Orland Park area, according to a report. The source placed an order for five ecstasy pills and four grams of marijuana for $150 with the dealer, while under police supervision. An undercover officer drove the informant to where the deal would be made in the 6800 block of 159th Street in Tinley Park, according to police. WEDNESDAY, APRIL 10 Blerta Lacuku, 30, of the 6900 block of West 155th Street, Oak Forest, was charged with felony retail theft, according to a report. She is accused of hiding two purses using a baby stroller and a shopping bag at about 4:39 p.m. in Macy’s, 1 Orland Square Dr. She was due on April 11 in Bridgeview court. TUESDAY, APRIL 9 Zachary P. Tinley Park Man Threatens Family, Says He Will Kill Orland Park Couple: Police

A fight between two families led to a disorderly conduct charge for a Tinley Park man, according to a report.

A 40-year-old Tinley Park man threatened to kill an Orland Park couple in front of officers, police said. James J. Lewis, 40, of the 7500 block of West 161st Place, Tinley Park, is charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct, according to an Orland Park police report. He is due on May 22 in Bridgeview court. Police found Lewis yelling and clenching his fists at about 8:43 p.m. on April 10 near the 7600 block of Ponderosa Court, according to the report. He repeatedly said he was "going to kill" the couple. Additional officers were called to calm Lewis down. MONDAY, APRIL 1 Cesario A. Solorsano, 44, of the 16400 block of Deer Run Drive, Lockport, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08, driving without insurance and failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash, according to a report. Police were called at about 10:25 p.m. to the intersection of 179th Street and Wolf Road for a crash. Officers reported smelling a strong odor of alcohol coming from one of the drivers in the crash. Solorsano told police he took a bus to the White Sox game and was dropped off at the Metra station in Tinley Park. He was arrested after performing field sobriety tests.
