Lawn Funeral Home is celebrating its 50th anniversary by building a third location in Tinley Park. The funeral home was founded in Burbank in 1962 by Don Jarka Sr. A second location opened at 7732 W. 159th St. in Orland Park in 1987. Now a third location is under construction at 179th Street and 94th Avenue in Tinley Park. “We just thought it was a good move,” said Don Jarka Jr. “We’re kind of excited about it.” The 16,000 square foot funeral home should be ready by June or July, Jarka said. Pompei Little Italy opened its doors to friends, family and Patch on Saturday.
Pompei has transformed the area once occupied by RC Mulligans in the Riviera Country Club with an eclectic mix of traditional meets contemporary. The restaurant officially opened on Monday to the general public. Patch was able to get a sneak peak of what Pompei will have to offer for its anticipated opening. The extensive menu includes handmade pasta favorites like spaghetti, mostaccioli and lasagna, as well as updated dishes like herb chicken ravioli and spicy rigatoni arrabiata. Hand-rolled pizza strudels were all the rage with varieties like barbeque chicken, Pompei Italiano, steak fajita, chicken parmigiana and many more. My fiance and I just went to Pompei last night. The food was delicious, great price for A LOT of food, service was great, loved the layout and decorations. Would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant to everyone! Mario was our waiter, he was great! We tried Rocco's last month and it was NOTHING compared to Pompei. The food sucked, Ragu tasted better. Plaza Café will become the latest business to depart Orland Plaza when it closes its doors at 143rd Street and LaGrange Road at the end of business on Wednesday, Aug. 31. Owner Tom Demacopoulos said he was “99 percent certain” the café would relocate. Today’s the day Pompei Little Italy is having its grand opening in the former R.C.
