TUESDAY, FEB. 19 Debra A. Gonzalez, 50, of the 8100 block of 174th Street in Tinley Park, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and cited for driving with a suspended or revoked license and making an improper turn, according to a report. Police spoke with Gonzalez at about 6:41 p.m. at Walgreens, 7900 159th St. The officer knew Gonzalez from a prior incident and followed her as she drove away. The officer stopped her Escape SUV after allegedly seeing her make a fast right turn into the outer most westbound lane of 159th Street, according to a report. Two Orland Park drop off points for the National Take Back Initiative on Saturday collected over a half-ton of unused medicine for disposal over the course of four hours.
The Orland Park Police Department collected an “unparalleled amount” of unused, expired or unwanted prescription and over the counter medicine, to push back against rising abuse habits of these leftover drugs often found in medicine cabinets. The two Orland Park collection points, one at the Orland Park Police Department and the other at Smith Crossing, collected 1,038 pounds of pills and liquid medicine, most of which were prescribed, said Orland Park Police Lt. Joe Mitchell. Antibiotics and synthetic morphine patches were among the dumped medicine, but the most prominent were painkillers. The woman had been dropped as a patient by doctor's office 2011 for pulling similar act, police say.
An Oak Lawn police detective caught a woman in the act of picking up phony doctor’s prescriptions that she had phoned in herself at a local drug store on March 29, reports said. Michelle Parrilli, 43, of the 14000 block of Aspen Street in Orland Park, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. Oak Lawn police responded to a “deceptive practice in progress” call at Barcus Pharmacy at 4708 W. 103rd St. around 12:10 p.m. A pharmacist said he received a call for a prescription on March 28 from an unknown female named “June” who claimed to be calling from an Orland Park doctor’s office.
