Orland Park Police Blotter: Heroin, Needles in Car and Stolen Cosmetics

Orland Park police reports: Jan. 31-Feb. 4

MONDAY, FEB. 4 Police were called about a retail theft at Sears around 4:55 p.m. Security said a man was seen taking 10 miscellaneous cosmetic items and dropping them into a shopping bag from another store, police said. The man then picked up a few other store items, but put them down before leaving the store without paying for the cosmetics, according to the report. The merchandise is worth $104, police said. Joseph D. Lee, 20, of the 400 block of Elmwood Avenue in Joliet, was charged with retail theft. Orland Park Police Blotter: Woman Files False Burglary Report with 'Missing' Items in Storage

THURSDAY, FEB. 14 Police were called about residential burglary on Feb. 11 in the 15300 block of Jillian Road. A woman said she had been on vacation for about five days and returned home to find her house entirely cleared out of belongings, including furniture and appliances, police said. Two days later, police searched a storage facility in Markham and found two units registered to the woman who reported the burglary, with a majority of the items she claimed were stolen within the units, according to the report. Khadijah C. Bradford, 28, of the 15300 block of Jillian Road in Orland Park, was charged with felony filing a false police report. Orland Park Police Blotter: Retail Theft at Goodwill

Orland Park police reports, Jan. 24-27

SUNDAY, JAN. 27 Police were called to Goodwill about a retail theft around 4:15 p.m. A store customer alerted a manager that a woman left the store with a cart of merchandise without paying, police said. The woman was found at her car placing the merchandise in her trunk, and said she did not have a receipt, police said. She told police that she had dropped off her mother at the store around 1:30 p.m., drove home, and returned before 4 p.m. to take her mother home, police said. She said she found her mother near the front door with a bag of merchandise, she assumed her mother paid for and walked it back to the car, police said. Orland Park Police Blotter: Two Women Bring Four Children Along for Retail Theft

Orland Park police reports: Nov. 27-29

THURSDAY, NOV. 29 Police were called about two women held for retail theft at JCPenney around 6:10 p.m. Security said two women pushing strollers were seen placing perfume containers on the sun covers of their strollers and walking into dressing rooms, police said. The women emerged from the rooms without the merchandise visible on their strollers and left the store, where they were stopped by security and found with $297 of unpaid merchandise, police said. The women were also seen earlier in Sephora trying to return about $500 of merchandise without a receipt and were denied, police said. TUESDAY, OCT. 30 Police were called about a retail theft at Sears, 2 Orland Square Drive, around 9:40 p.m. Security said a man was seen on Oct. 24 taking a pair of boots out of the store without paying, and got away, police said. That same man was caught on Oct. 30 for another retail theft at Sears, police said. Officers found the boots in his vehicle, worth about $150, police said. Larry V. SATURDAY, OCT. 13 Police pulled over a car for driving 63 mph in a 45 mph zone in the 17200 block of LaGrange Road around 3:10 a.m. The driver’s breath smelled like alcohol, he didn’t have his driver’s license or insurance, he failed field sobriety tests and originally gave the officer an incorrect address, police said. While in custody, he cursed at officers and another person in custody, police said. Jerome L. WEDNESDAY OCT. 3 Police were called about a woman and a juvenile girl in custody for retail theft around 5:40 p.m. Security said a woman was seen taking three bottles of perfume and placed them under her baby’s blanket she was pushing in a stroller, according to the report. The girl was seen taking several makeup items and appeared to put them in a bag she carried, before the woman and girl left the store without paying for the items, police said. The two also had clothing items from three other stores that were damaged after sensors and tags were removed, according to the report.
