Prosecutors asked Judge Peter Felice to raise or revoke the $150,000 bond given to former Chicago Ridge Deputy Fire Chief Gary Swiercz, 49, who is accused of the attempted rape and murder of his Tinley Park neighbor.
A Cook County judge denied prosecutors' motion Tuesday, Jan. 8, to raise or revoke bail for the former Chicago Ridge deputy fire chief accused of the attempted rape and murder of his Tinley Park neighbor. Judge Peter Felice say he didn't see a reason to change the order of Judge Adam Donal Bourgeouis who gave Gary Swiercz, 49, a $150,000 bond during a hearing on Sunday. Swiercz has since posted bond and was released on electronic monitoring. Swiercz doesn't have a criminal background, except a domestic violence case that was dismissed 16 years ago, Felice noted, and the defendant has voluntarily moved out of his Tinley Park condo to stay with relatives in Worth. Swiercz, who was earlier placed on indefinite leave from his position as …

Mark Williamson, 46, pleaded not guilty to charges after he was accused of seriously beating his father, and was also barred from having any contact with him after a Cook County judge issued a protection order.
An Orland Park man pleaded not guilty to felony attempted murder, aggravated battery and unlawful restraint Thursday, after he was accused of beating and strangling his 78-year-old father, according to police. Mark Williamson has also been ordered to stay away from his father after Judge Colleen Ann Hyland granted prosecutors' request for an order of protection. At a preliminary hearing in early December, the father testified that he was strangled by his son but a 'demon' was responsible for the attack. Williamson is in custody without bond. The father was not present during Thursday's hearing. Sherie L. Dedore, an assistant state's attorney with the Seniors and Persons with Disabilities Unit, said the protection order is needed because …

The father of an Orland Park man charged with attempted murder said a demon with "slanted eyes and a blue-green face" caused his son to beat and strangle him.
OUTSIDE CHICAGO, IL -- A 78-year-old local man testified in court Thursday that a demon caused his son to attack, choke and beat him. During a probable cause hearing that lasted more than 30 minutes in Judge Peter Felice's Bridgeview courtroom, George Williamson of Orland Park at times seemed reluctant to accuse his son, 46-year-old Mark Williamson, who has been charged with attempted murder and battery for the Nov. 11 incident — instead blaming the demon. Mark Williamson took care of his father, who has emphysema and heart disease, testimony revealed. A public defender for Mark Williamson pointed out mental issues, saying he has not been taking his medication and hinted that he may use alcohol to self-medicate. Sherie L. Dedore, an …
