Business Comings & Goings: Office Depot Moving From Orland Park Place

Little Joe's opens third location, Orland Township to host a free job fair at the township Activity Center and other business news.

Office Depot will be closing its store at Orland Park Place on Dec. 12 and is expected to move sometime in 2013 into a much smaller space across the street in Ravinia Plaza. The move is part of the office supply retailer’s move away from larger stores into much smaller stores. “During the past few years, Office Depot has been focused on improving the in-store shopping experience for our customers by remodeling stores into a smaller format, which makes them more intimate and easier to navigate,” Office Depot communications manager Julianne Carelli said in an email. “The current store is nearly 22,000 square feet and does not fit in with our new format plans. “The relocated, smaller format store will be about 7,000 square feet and is …

Business Comings & Goings: Business is Booming at Bettenhausen

A look at new businesses coming into town and a fond farewell to those that have, for whatever reason, called it quits.

Fiat’s takeover of Chrysler since the automaker's financial collapse in 2009 has been a boon for Bettenhausen Auto Group in Tinley Park. Not only has the dealership started selling Fiats from its longtime home at 17514 S. The company’s Dodge and Ram truck operations are now operating from the 8355 W. 159th St. location and it is selling Chrysler and Jeep models from the 94th Avenue location. The company also operates a used car facility next to the new Fiat location, and frequent travelers on Oak Park Avenue can still see lots…

We look back at a week of warrant arrests, wage cases, continuing cases, power use, comings and goings.

FRIDAY More than 1,000 active warrants were pursued Friday morning across suburbs and Chicago, resulting in over 50 arrests. Guns were seized, as well as cash and marijuana. It was described as the largest coordinated warrant sweep among south suburban law enforcement departments. THURSDAY Orland Fire Protection District board president James Hickey said he released salary data from 2010 of all the district’s staff for research, while union vice president Walter Rafacz said personnel have earned every penny. Hickey also responded to a subtle cut at his campaign fundraising. WEDNESDAY Operations Deputy Chief Joe Madden was let off the hook of an investigation, while he has been on paid leave.
