Glenn Michalek and Martin McGill served as Orland Fire Protection District board trustees for the last time on April 23. Both were presented with “appreciation of service” awards at the meeting, and spoke highly of district staff and firefighters. “I want to thank you for letting me be a part of your family these years,” McGill said. “The administrative staff was always there when I needed you.” McGill also thanked the Orland Fire chiefs for keeping the district “headed in the right direction” and offered “best wishes” to the remaining trustees. Area voters reported little to no wait at polling places during Tuesday's local election.
On Tuesday, 18.8 percent of voters made it out to the polls in suburban Cook County to vote in this year's local election, according to the Cook County Clerk's website. While the turnout was higher than other area counties, it was an average turnout for a local election in Cook County. Since 2005, turnout in Cook County has ranged from as low as 16.7 percent of voters casting their ballot in 2011 to as high as 27 percent voting in 2005. Comparably speaking, during last fall's presidential election, 70.7 percent of registered voters made it to the polls in suburban Cook County. Diane Jennings and Catherine Morrisey-Lebert were re-elected to the Orland Park Public Library Board of Trustees Tuesday.
The Orland Park Public Library board will remain unchanged for at least the next two years. James Dodge, Brad O’Halloran and Kathy Fenton were all re-elected to the Orland Park Village Board of Trustees.
The Orland Park Village Board will remain exactly the same as the last two years after Tuesday’s election. As of early Wednesday morning, all 51 precincts showed vote totals that place James Dodge, Brad O’Halloran and Kathy Fenton as the winning candidates for the Orland Park Village Board. “We all care about Orland Park deeply,” Dodge said. “The people of Orland Park said we’re going to put these guys back in office, so I thank them. A fire commissioner and newcomer joined the Orland Fire Protection District board, unseating two incumbents following Tuesday’s election. As of early Wednesday morning, all 53 precincts showed vote totals that place John Brudnak, who now serves as an Orland Fire Commissioner, and Jayne Schirmacher as the new additions to the Orland Fire Protection District Board of Trustees. “I am very thankful for the ones who came out to vote,” Brudnak said. “We just want to keep it moving forward. While two slates, both including newcomers, ran for the D146 board, the incumbents all won re-election. As of Wednesday morning, all 28 precincts are showing vote totals that place Amy Connolly, Julie Jackson, Denis Ryan and John J.
