Troop 318 Holds Court of Honor

Troop 318 recognized Dan Lysy, Dan Magee, Eric Kowalczyk, Joseph Jaeger, Scott Cleary, and Jack Harmening for attaining the highest rank in Scouting - the Eagle Scout Rank.

A Court of Honor in a BSA Boy Scout Troop is a formal public event. Its purpose is to acknowledge the achievements of the scouts and the leaders within the Troop. When the size of the troop is more than 100+ scouts - as it is for Orland Park-based Boy Scout Troop 318 - the support system they have established creates an impressive amount of accomplishments within its scouting ranks. On April 25, 2013, Troop 318's Court of Honor awarded ninety-six merit badges, six religious medals, one National Outdoor Achievement Award, one National Camping Award, one National Youth Leadership Training, three Den Chief Awards, one Totin' Chip, and two Recruiter Awards. Seven scouts were honored for a 20 mile hike accomplishment, twelve for Position-Specific Training, and the Badger Patrol was the recipient of the Golden Spatula Award.

Amongst the leaders, Mary Lou Norwell received the District Award of Merit, Tim Murray and Cindy Murray earned the prestigious Wood Badge for the highest level of Scout leadership training, and Tim Murray was the first recipient to receive the Calumet Council H. Allen Pederson, Scoutmaster of the Year Award.

An Eagle Court of Honor honors the scouts who have achieved the highest rank attainable in scouting. Many years of hard work have taken place in order for the scout to be presented with this award - and for their fellow scouts watching, this ceremony encourages them to stay on the path to Eagle.

To date, 130 scouts have obtained the rank of Eagle Scout within the organization of Orland Park Boy Scout Troop 318.

With family and friends in attendance, Troop 318 recognized Dan Lysy, Dan Magee, Eric Kowalczyk, Joseph Jaeger, Scott Cleary, and Jack Harmening for attaining the highest rank in Scouting - the Eagle Scout Rank.
