Orland Park Homemade Haunt Scares for 14 Years

With live actors and a whole yard full of movie props, smoke machines, lights, spooky projections and more, the Shurley house is an Orland Park Halloween destination.

Deer Creek Drive looks like a common subdivision in Orland Park, until October rolls around.

That’s why Yvonne Shurley, Orland Park’s own Queen of Scream, rolls out her new haunt for Halloween. A massive display of classic movie props, animatronics figures, lights, smoke, video projections and a creepy theme for the year all go out on 17404 Deer Creek Drive.

With the help of Oak Forest handyman Randy Seeman, and Delights in Mokena working lighting, the haunt has grown each year for the last 14 years.

And this year was no exception. The Bates Motel came alive at the Shurley residence, with a live actor playing Norman dressed up as his dear mother, with a machete in hand. Shurley herself also takes a role as an actor in the haunt, while husband Ralph keeps watch and hands out candy.

Fox News Chicago described the Shurley Haunt as the scariest in Illinois.
