Palos Fire Truck Catches Fire

No one was injured Wednesday when a Palos Fire Protection District engine caught fire while near 131st Street and LaGrange Road.

A Palos Fire Protection District aerial ladder truck is out of commission after the cab caught fire Wednesday.

Palos Fire Chief Patrick Gericke said a possible electrical fire started in the truck's cab around 8:30 a.m., according to a Sun Times Media report. The single firefighter aboard the truck pulled it over into the Jewel parking lot north of Carl Sandburg High School.

The firefighter wasn't injured but damage to the truck is extensive, and it can't be used on emergency calls, according to the report. The district was working to replace the truck and is expecting to have the replacement in January, according to the report.
