Half a century of existence calls for a celebration, which is just what Orland Hills has planned this weekend. Beginning Friday, an exciting lineup of music, vendors and other activities awaits those who want to wish the village a happy birthday. The best part about this birthday event is that it's free! Patch has prepared a guide for the whole weekend, which will be held at .

8:30-11:45 p.m. 7th Heaven

Seven friends and performers, including the winner of the British version of American Idol (Pop Stars) comprises the group 7th Heaven. Let their current single "This Summer's Gonna Last Forever" be your theme song!

1:00-3:30 p.m. St. Laurence H.S. Rock Club

For those musicians who may not fit the band and/or jazz club fixture in high school, enter the St. Laurence HS Rock Club. A group of just about all kinds of music types and instruments, these students are able to showcase their music skills, no matter their level.

4:00-6:00 p.m. WLUP 97.9 Loop Van & Rock Girl on Site

4:30-7:00 p.m. The Deal

Don't worry, they'll bring the funk to you, their t-shirt says. The Deal, made up of four musicians, plays funk and improvisational music, and covers the likes of James Brown and Led Zeppelin.

8:00 p.m.-11:45 p.m. Echoes of Pink Floyd

For all of you Pink Floyd fans...this isn't Pink Floyd. But this is the next best thing to it--a tribute band, complete with a spectacular light show. A lovely way to end the night.

9:30-10:00 Village Fireworks

3:30-6:30 p.m. Libido Funk Circus

An exciting mix of songs from the '60s on down, Libido Funk Circus' website says they've got it all "covered". The group's song list stretches through the years and includes "Build Me Up Buttercup" by The Foundations and "Just A Girl" by No Doubt.

7:00-9:00 p.m. American English

Another tribute band to end the night right, and this time the group of honor is The Beatles. They have been voted "Best Tribute Band" for three years, so you're in for a lovely end to celebrate 50 years of Orland Hills!
