This Weekend: Tinley Summer Fest, Music and a Seductive Novel

Performing arts, festivals, green, charitable and library events happening this weekend, Aug. 18 - 21, in the Orland, Palos, Tinley and Oak Forest area.

When it comes to picking weekend activities, many of us suffer from decidophobia (fear of making decisions). Fear not! Patch has come to the rescue with an amazing weekend all lined up for you.

Festivals


August 20, 12 p.m. – 10 p.m. |
Enjoy an evening of food and fun with performances by Yard Fulla Cars, Joey Midnight & the Fleshtones and more. Tickets are $5 per person or $20 per family. Proceeds go to Easter Seals Autism Therapeutic School, Child & Family Connections #12 and Easter Seals Metropolitan Chicago


August 21, 3 p.m. |
Celebrate the 2nd Anniversary of Zante's in Orland Park with a pig roast, bean bag tournament and several contests. Hear performances by Audiomatic (5 p.m.) and Maggie Speaks (7:30 p.m.).

August 18, 19 and 20, 7:30 p.m. |
This classic comedy will "haunt" you all weekend! Admission is $12 for the general public and $9 for students and senior citizens. Purchase tickets online at www.trinitychristiancollegetickets.com or by calling the college at 708.597.3000.


August 20, 7 p.m.–10 p.m. | Metra Parking Lot
Wrap up a summer of music with Reckless performing the the Tinley Metra packing lot. Admission is free.

At the Library


August 19, 7 p.m.–8 p.m. |
Discuss the novel Hard to Hold by New York Times best seller Stephanie Tyler. Talk romance on the second floor near the fireplace.


August 20, 11 a.m.–2 p.m. |
Girls grades 6 - 12 can bring their favorite books to share, take part in crafts, snack and participate in other activities. Register online or by phone at 708.532.0160 x2.

Give Back


August 20, 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. | Be green and clean out your closets during the Palos Recycling Day event. Bring electronics, latex paint (with a small fee), prescription drugs, CFL light bulbs (non-tubular type), bottles, cans, cardboard and paper products to be safely recycled. Call 708-361-1873 for more information.


August 19, 7 p.m.–9 p.m. |
Enjoy a 2-hour open bar with domestic draft beers, wine, and soda. Dine on pizza while listening to Nick Willett sing classic hits by Elvis Presley, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Bobby Darin. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the door. Proceeds will benefit A Giving Heart Food Pantry.
