Comings & Goings: Orland Park Bakery Sets Moving Date

Tinley Park moves ahead with a tax-sharing agreement with Toyota/Scion for sales taxes. The dealership is expected to go through a renovation.

, another business departing Orland Plaza, has announced that its Plaza location will be closing on Sunday, Feb. 5.

The bakery will then reopen on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at its new location at 14850 S. LaGrange Road in the Dania Plaza.

The bakery will hold its grand reopening at 8 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, with raffles for gift cards and other prizes.

Tinley OKs Tax Sharing with Toyota Dealership

Tinley Park trustees last week tentatively agreed to share sales taxes with Orland Toyota/Scion, 8505 W. 159th St., to help pay for a corporate-mandated expansion and remodeling project.

Kowalis Motors Inc., which runs the dealership, proposed an agreement that could be worth up to $1 million a year for 10 years. In essence, the deal would give the dealership one third of sales taxes above $391,895 up to $1 million.

The village has approved similar deals in the past, including one last year with Apple Chevrolet.

The dealership has been ordered by Toyota to undertake the $4 million face-lift, which is expected to begin in the spring.

The proposal will be back before the village board for final approval next month.

Brighton Collectibles Opens in Orland Square

Brighton Collectibles, a specialty store that carries items from jewelry to handbags and accessories, opened Friday in the lower level Macy’s Court at in Orland Park.

Store hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Miroballi Shoes Moving into Temporary Quarters

, a longtime shoe store that is building a new home at 144th Place and LaGrange Road in Orland Park, is holding a store moving sale this week as it prepares to depart Orland Plaza.

Miroballi will close Saturday, Jan. 28, and reopen on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at its temporary location at 16131 S. LaGrange Road behind Houlihan’s.

So, through Saturday, the store is discounting shoes, boots and handbags from 30-80 percent off.

Orland Park OKs Buona Beef, Hibachi Grill

restaurant for the Southmoor Commons at 131st Street and LaGrange Road. The approximately 4,000-square-foot restaurant will have a covered patio and a drive-through.

Plans also have been tentatively approved for an 11,000-square-foot Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet in the Home Depot Plaza at 159th Street and Harlem Avenue. The restaurant offers American, Chinese, Japanese and Mexican buffet stations. It will have seating for 200 and will resemble a Hibachi Grill in Matteson.

Orland to Host Property Tax Appeal Seminar

Orland Park Mayor Dan McLaughlin and Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Dan Patlak will hold a free property tax appeal seminar at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at the , 14750 S. Ravinia Ave. Taxpayers should bring their most recent tax bills.
