In the Rear View: Triangle Settlement Set and Potter Ends

We look back at a week of endings, specifically lengthy land acquisition negotiations and the Harry Potter movie saga.

MONDAY

The “storm of the decade,” as some soothsayers have proclaimed, knocked out power for more than 71,000 in ComEd’s South Region, including Orland Park. Lightning and 80mph wind took down power lines across the Chicagoland area.

For the convenience of readers, we created a page with links to all stories chronicling the village’s bid to create a walkable downtown that we will continue to update when needed.

TUESDAY

Orland Park village trustees unanimously approved a $7.5 million settlement with Plaza owners George Gee and Joe Mikan for the purchase of the entire Plaza property in three phases. Still to be determined in court is how much money the tenants are owed. The attorneys for several tenants say they will object to the deal in court.

WEDNESDAY

The contributions from Music Parents and Parents for Education (PFE) help alleviate costs for assemblies, instruments and lessons, author visits and other activities during the year, including some requested by the students.

THURSDAY

It's been quite a summer for former Providence Catholic baseball standout Tom Barry. The Orland Park native has been mystifying hitters for the San Luis Obispo Blues and pitched in the California Collegiate League All-Star Game at Casey Stengel Field in Glendale, Calif.
