Bullying Stops Here Community Walk 2014

The Bridge Teen Center’s 2nd Annual Community Walk is scheduled for
Saturday, October 4th. Once again, this event will be held during
National Bullying Prevention Month in recognition of the innovative
mission of The Bridge Teen Center, which proactively combats bullying by
connecting, challenging, and empowering students on a daily basis.

The Bridge provides a safe and positive environment where 7th-12th
grade students can participate in FREE afterschool programs and weekend
entertainment events. Since 2010, The Bridge’s holistically-designed
programs have provided over 2,400 different students from 96 local
communities with a place not just to BE, but to BECOME.

Designed for the entire family, walkers will begin their 1.5 mile
walk “experience” outside the Orland Park Civic Center and follow the
John Humphrey Bike Trail along Ravinia Avenue. Along the walk route,
participants will visit experiential stations that represent each of the
five afterschool program “buckets” at The Bridge: Mind/Body, Community
Connections, Educational Support, Expressive Arts, and Everyday Life.

The walk will conclude with a celebration featuring live music, a
culinary demo with Whole Foods Market, an awards presentation, and food
samples from Harvest Room, Mimi's Cafe', and Wooden Paddle Pizza. In
addition to raising funds for The Bridge, the purpose of the walk is for
students and families to learn more about the effects of bullying and
be inspired to take action on their own.
