At Thursday’s hearing of the Illinois House Mass Transit Board, Metra attorney Andrew Green said that the governor has the power to fire the Metra board.

Which certainly caught my attention.

When I suggested, at the bottom of my Friday column, that Gov. Pat Quinn should use that power, and sack the ham-handed, money-scattering Metra board, for so messing up the Alex Clifford situation, and because it was something he could actually do, I did not expect the governor’s office to leap into action.

But Quinn’s press secretary, Brooke Anderson, tells me his office is indeed exploring whether it can legally can the board, the implication being that he is at least considering doing so. Go get ‘em, gov!
