Mariano's/Apartment Complex

Imagine my dismay when I found out that the Village of Orland Park is going to open up 141st Street to traffic from the Mariano’s/apartment complex. My husband and I moved from a very busy street (wasn’t busy when we bought there in 1981) in Chicago to a home in Brook Hills in 1998 in a cul-de-sac with very little traffic. When we decided to downsize in 2007 we looked at townhomes in Palos and Orland. We like Orland so we bought a townhome on 141st street. One of the reasons we purchased a home in Orland Crossings was the low maintenance feature and the minimal amount of traffic. After living on a busy street in Chicago, we certainly did not want the noise, pollution and the extra dirt/grime/exhaust that gets into a house from vehicular traffic. Parking in the subdivisoin is already an issue especially during the holidays and now I will lose the parking spaces in front of my house on 141st Street. My husband and I are retired and are definitely concerned about the effect of traffic on the resale value of our property The builder assured us that the empty parcel of land to the west of the sub-division would have exits that would NOT affect the Orland Crossings subdivision.  I am hoping that the Village of Orland Park reconsiders this proposal and works out a viable solution that will not have a negative impact on the subdivisions east of this development.
