Argument in SUV Leads to DUI Charge: Blotter

SATURDAY, MARCH 9

DUI And Battery Charges

Kimberlyn Sawyer, 44, of the 9200 block of Hartwood Court in Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and battery, according to a police report. Police were called at about 9:36 p.m. to the parking lot at Walgreens, 14680 LaGrange Rd. on a report of a man and woman arguing inside a Ford Explorer. An officer reported smelling a strong odor of alcohol on the breath of Sawyer, who was in the driver's seat of the running SUV. While talking to police from inside the SUV, Sawyer reportedly swatted at and hit an officer’s hand. She was arrested and taken to the Orland Park Police Department, where she took field sobriety tests. Sawyer is due in a downtown Chicago courtroom on April 22.

Warrant Arrest

Cornelius E. Robinson, 25, of the 15200 block of Lexington Avenue in Harvey, was arrested on an outstanding Oak Brook warrant for failure to appear on a driving with a suspended license charge, according to a report. Robinson had come at about 12:37 a.m. to the Orland Park Police Department to pick up two youths from a previous incident when the warrant was found.

FRIDAY, MARCH 8

Aggravated Speeding

Christopher E. Barrett, 18, of the 12900 block of Bloomfield Drive in Palos Park, was charged with aggravated speeding 40mph more than the posted limit, according to a report. Barrett is accused of traveling 75mph in a 35mph zone at about 5:41 a.m. near 10500 Orland Park Way. He is due in Will County court on April 18.

THURSDAY, FEB. 28

Outstanding Warrant

Ronald D. Turner, 53, of the 13400 block of Springfield Avenue in Robbins, was picked up on an Orland Park warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia about 12:45 a.m., according to a report. He was in the custody of Robbins police when Orland Park was called.
