Drop Off Expired or Unused Medicine Saturday

Orland Park, Orland Hills and Palos Heights police departments, as well as several other locations, will be destinations Saturday for those who want to safely dispose of medicine they no longer use or need. Find out the details.

Law enforcement agencies all over the country are looking to collect clamp down on one of the most plentiful sources of potentially dangerous drugs – your medicine cabinet.

The Orland Park Police Department is taking part in the National Take Back Initiative, organized in collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Agency.

On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. medicine will be collected at the following locations:

  • Alsip Police Department, 4500 W. 123rd St.
  • Oak Lawn Police Department, 109th Street and Laramie Avenue (not the police station)
  • Orland Hills Police Department, 16039 S. 94th Ave. (This is a year-round Environmental Protection Agency collection site at the Orland Hills Village Municipal Complex.)
  • Orland Park Police Department, 15100 S. Ravina Ave.
  • Palos Heights Police Department, 7607 W. College Dr.
  • Smith Crossing in Orland Park, 10501 Emilie Lane
  • Tinley Park Police Department, 7850 183rd St.
  • Village of Palos Park Kaptur Administartive Center, 8999, W. 123rd St. 

Here are a few more things you should know about the drop-off before you go:

  • All solid dose and liquid pharmaceuticals in consumer containers will be accepted.
  • Cough syrups and other liquid medications should be in the original container with the caps tightly sealed.
  • Needles; used, intravenous solutions; injectables; and syringes will not be accepted.

This effort is in addition to Orland Park and Orland Hills police departments regularly collecting unused medicine. The Orland Park Police Department allows collection Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
