New Lawyer Takes Wheel in Orland Park 'Ghost Rider' Case

A young man from Orland Park who allegedly starred in a series of Youtube videos that show him taunting the police as he races around town on his dirt bike has a new lawyer.

The attorney who had been representing 22-year-old Justin Jachimiec was dismissed from the case last month when—at the start of jury selection—he discovered he was a .

A public defender was assigned the case while Jachimiec looked for a new lawyer. And on Thursday he got one when Glen Ellyn attorney Brad Telander entered his appearance at the Bridgeview Courthouse.

Telander asked for discovery evidence to be turned over to him and for Cook County Judge Colleen Hyland to schedule an April 16 status hearing.

Jachimiec has been locked up in the Cook County jail since October on a felony charge of aggravated fleeing and eluding. He is being held without bond after missing a court date.

Jachimiec was arrested in March 2012 for allegedly riding his dirt bike recklessly around Orland Park. Police said he sped, popped wheelies, drove dangerously close to squad cars and taunted officers.

The series of Youtube videos memorialized Jachimiec's alleged escapades, and may have led police to his Juanita Drive home.

Jachimiec allegedly recorded the video with a helmet-mounted camera while astride his dirt bike. Text accompanying the videos refer to the biker as the "Orland Ghost Rider."
