No One Injured in Kitchen Fire

The fire was contained to the kitchen area of an Orland Park home, but smoke damage was throughout.

No one was injured during a fire that started in the kitchen of an Orland Park home Monday afternoon.

Neighbors living near the house in the 150oo block of Hale Drive saw black smoke coming out of the home and called 911 around 2:57 p.m., Orland Fire Protection District Chief Bill Krizik said at the scene. The fire was contained to the kitchen area, though due to smoke damage throughout the home, the family will be displaced, Krizik said.

Fire fighters had the flames under control in about 10 minutes. Crews were still on scene at 3:45 p.m. and the fire’s exact cause was still being investigated, Krizik said.
