Orland Park police reports, Aug. 3-Sept. 7

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 7

Shady Business on Shady Lane?

Joseph S. Satala, 61, of the 12800 block of Parkside Drive in Palos Park, was charged with operating a rental property without a valid license. Police said they were assisting Will County Sheriff’s Police with the arrest of an Orland Park resident living in the 9900 block of Shady Lane around 10:30 a.m. when they noticed that the condominium complex wasn’t registered with the village.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 6

Drug Ticket

John L. Frazier, 30, of the 18900 block of Loras Lane in Country Club Hills, was charged with possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and no front registration plate. Police said they stopped Frazier’s car in the 7100 block of 159th Street at 4:28 p.m. for driving without a front license plate and smelled marijuana. Police found two pipes and several marijuana buds in his car, according to the report.

Drug Ticket II

Kevin M. Moran, 22, of the 17600 block of Westbrook Drive, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to wear seat belt. Police said they stopped a car in the 10300 block of Orland Parkway at 5:30 p.m. because the driver and passenger were not wearing a seat belt. A police K9 found a pipe in the center counsel belonging to Moran, the passenger, according to the report.

MONDAY, SEPT. 5

Retail Theft

Laura Garcia, 35, of the 7400 block of 61st Street in Summit, was charged with retail theft. Orland Square Mall security told police Garcia put clothing and fragrance totaling $61 inside her purchase and tried leaving the mall around 2 p.m. without paying for them.

Drug Ticket III

Jessie E. Nunez, 28, of the 16400 block of Haven Avenue in Orland Hills, was charged with possession of cannabis and failure to wear seat belt. Police said they stopped Nunez’s car during a seat belt enforcement check and smelled marijuana. He handed over a bag of marijuana weighing 1.1 gram, according to the report.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 3

Drunk Driving While Eating

Emanuel Williams, 60, of the 6400 block of Glenwood in Chicago, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage and no rear registration plate light. Police said they stopped Williams’ car in the 15800 block of LaGrange Road at 11:05 p.m. for driving in the center of the roadway and swerving. As police spoke with Williams, they noticed a half-eaten plate of beef and chicken on the passenger’s seat and “food tucked into the door handle and all over the driver’s shirt and pants,” according to the report. He failed field sobriety tests and a Breathalyzer exam, police said.

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 31

Drug Ticket IV

Omer Y. Malik, 28, of the 15400 block of Orchid Court, was charged with possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and expired registration. Police said they stopped Malik’s car near 159th Street and 71st Court at 5:52 p.m. for making an improper right turn onto Harlem Avenue from Wheeler Drive. A police K9 found 5 grams of synthetic marijuana and a metal pipe in his car, according to the report. He was also issued a warning for the improper turn.
