Orland Park police reports: Sept. 22-30

FRIDAY, SEPT. 30

Fake Name

Khaled M. Bataineh, 28, of the 8800 block of 140th Street in Orland Park, was charged with obstructing identification, possession of marijuana and was written tickets for driving with a suspended license, driving without a front license plate and illegal use of a lighting system. A patrolling officer checked registration on a car driving east on 143rd Street near LaGrange Road without a front license plate, and with pink headlights. The registered driver had a suspended license, police said. The officer pulled over the vehicle and smelled a strong marijuana odor in the car, according to the report.  The driver said his first name was Tariq, and police found a blunt on the floor inside the car, police said.

Street Solicitation

Anthony G. Everett, 36, of the 7600 of South Bishop Street in Chicago, was cited with solicitation without a permit. Police were called about a man who was asked to leave Trader Joe’s for soliciting and wasn’t leaving around 3:55 p.m. Police found Everett who said he was selling candy for a children’s baseball team in Chicago, and had permission from a store employee, so long as he stayed away from the door, according to the report. Everett admitted to not having a village permit, police said.

Mall Happy Hour

Police were called to a department store in Orland Square Mall about an intoxicated woman who had fallen around 2:30 p.m. A store manager said the woman had cut her arm while falling, and asked to be walked to her car, according to the report. The responding officer found the woman sitting in the driver’s seat of her car with the engine running, and immediately smelled alcohol on the driver’s breath, police said. The woman failed field sobriety tests, according to the report. Kathleen S. Shields, 58, of the 8800 block of Cedar Wood Drive in Orland Hills, was charged with driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol level greater than .08.

Warrant Arrest

Beatrice I. Minner, 54, of the 17200 block of Ridgeland Avenue in Tinley Park, was arrested on a criminal trespass warrant around 1:30 p.m. She turned herself in to the .

THURSDAY, SEPT. 22

Two Trips

Takenya J. Cooks, 18, of the 14300 block of State Street in Riverdale, was cited for retail theft, and Latriche N. Jennings, 22, of the 7700 block of South Essex Avenue in Chicago was charged with retail theft. An officer was patrolling the parking lot at Orland Square Mall when he saw two women with shopping bags make two trips in and out of the mall, using different bags the second time, between 5:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m., according to the report. The officer pulled over the vehicle when the car started driving away from the mall and found $1,075 worth of stolen merchandise in the vehicle, police said. Jennings admitted to taking items, and Cooks admitted to knowing items were stolen, police said.
